How the fancy text generator works
There are no real fonts in a bio or a chat message: apps decide which font they use. What you can change is the characters themselves. Unicode, the standard behind all modern text, contains thousands of letter-like symbols, for example mathematical bold letters (πππ), script letters (πβ¬π), letters in circles (βΆβ·βΈ) and wide letters (οΌ‘οΌ’οΌ£). The generator replaces each normal letter with its look-alike, so the text keeps its style wherever you paste it.
Where you can use fancy fonts
- Instagram bios, names, captions and comments. See the Instagram fonts page for a bio preview.
- TikTok bios and video captions, Discord nicknames and server names, Twitch chat, X posts and WhatsApp messages.
- Game names where the game allows Unicode. Many games, including Minecraft Java and most console gamertags, only allow plain letters, so check the rules first, for example on the Minecraft names page.
Which styles work best
Bold and italic sans are the most readable and are supported almost everywhere, so they are ideal for highlighting a word in a caption. Cursive script and gothic look striking in a name but are harder to read in long text. Bubbles and squares only exist for capital letters in the dark versions. Strikethrough and underline add a line through or under each letter, and glitch stacks random marks on top for a creepy look. Decorated styles simply put symbols such as β 彑 or κ§ κ§ around your text.
Readability and accessibility
Use fancy text for a word or a name, not for whole paragraphs. Screen readers often read these characters one by one or as their mathematical name, which makes them hard to follow for blind and partially sighted people. Search inside apps usually does not match them either, so a username written in fancy letters can be harder to find. A good rule: keep your handle plain and use fancy letters for your display name or one highlighted line.
If you see boxes or question marks
Older phones and some apps lack symbols for every Unicode character and show an empty box (β) instead. Bold, italic and small caps are the safest choices; vaporwave, bubbles and the double-struck style also work on all current systems. Test the pasted text on the device your audience uses before you rename an account.
Whether an app accepts fancy characters in names can change with updates. If a name is rejected, the platform only allows plain letters there.
